Bitter leaves, also known as Vernonia amygdalina (VA) is a tropical plant that grows in some parts of Africa. It is notorious for its bitter taste and is often referred to as “bitter leaf”. It is known under many names such as onugbu, oriwo, etidot,ewuro, mululuza, ndoleh. The cooked leaves are a staple vegetable in soups and stews of various cultures throughout equatorial Africa.
